Club Timeline

Brief Overview

473 MVP Track and Field Club started in march of 2020. It is an offshoot of Speedzone Athletics Club which was based in Gouyave and produced World and Olympic 400m Champion Kirani James, World Junior bronze medalist Janelle Redhead and 2014 World Junior 400m gold medalist and 2016 Olympics 400m 4th place athlete Machel Cedenio of Trinidad and Tobago. MVP got affiliated to the (GAA) Grenada Athletics Association in 2020. Since that time the club has steadily grown and now has over 60 registered athletes and has produced a number of Carifta representatives and national champions in the past 5 years. The club currently is managed by a group of 4 Directors and an Executive body that includes a Chair Person, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer, Human Resource Officer and Legal Adviser.

2020 - Foundation Year

473 MVP Track and Field Club was established with a vision to develop young athletes and promote excellence in track and field sports in Grenada. • Club officially registered • First training session held • Initial membership of 15 athletes • Affiliation with Grenada Athletics Association (GAA)

2021 - First Achievements

The club began to make its mark in local competitions. • First regional competition participation • 3 athletes qualified for national championships • Membership grew to 30 athletes • Established training programs and coaching structure

2022 - Breakthrough Year

A year of significant growth and achievements that put 473 MVP on the map. • Shantay Augustine represented Grenada at Carifta Games • Club was dominant at national Relay Meet • Membership expanded to 40 athletes • Multiple regional competition victories

2023 - Excellence & Recognition

The club achieved remarkable success and gained recognition as a leading track and field institution. • Multiple national records broken • 8 athletes qualified for Carifta Games in the Bahamas • Membership reached 60 athletes • Established international training partnerships

2024 - Continued Growth

Building on past successes and expanding our reach and impact. • International competition participation • Membership exceeded 65 athletes • Enhanced coaching and training facilities • Community outreach programs established

2025 - Vision for the Future

Looking ahead with ambitious goals and continued commitment to excellence. • Olympic pathway development • International training partnerships • Community sports development programs • Target: 100+ active athletes • Advanced sports science integration
